Our BlogThe latest news and information about digital credentials
Parchment, the most widely adopted digital credentials service, today released its 2016 second quarter activity report. More than 8,200 high schools, universities employers and licensing boards rely on Parchment to issue and receive academic credentials, arming millions of learners with portable, actionable credentials.
During the second quarter of 2016, a 20 percent growth in learner registrations resulted in 26 percent growth in credential transactions, marking the first time the organization has surpassed the 8 million mark in credentials ordered in a last twelve month (LTM) period.
Institutional Member Network Growth
Today, nearly 4,300 credential-issuing institutions – including high schools, colleges/universities, GED and licensing boards – turn to Parchment for the secure delivery of their digital credentials. These institutions are sending to a network of nearly 4,000 organizations that process or verify credentials through Parchment. During the second quarter of 2016, the Parchment network (including sending and receiving organizations) expanded by more than 120 institutions including University of New Mexico, Central New Mexico Community College, University of Denver and Cleveland State College.
Today, the active Parchment network spans 25 percent of US enrollments in secondary schools and 17 percent of US enrollments in postsecondary schools.
Learner Registration Growth
Students looking to turn their credentials into opportunities rely on Parchment for their secure delivery. In the second quarter, more than 705,000 new learners registered with Parchment services. For the last twelve month period ending June 30, 2016, more than 2.7 million learners registered with Parchment.
Credential Transaction Growth
In the second quarter, Parchment facilitated more than 1.7 million academic credential orders (e.g. transcripts, GED, diplomas), bringing total credential requests over the last twelve month period to more than 8.1 million, a 26 percent increase over the prior year LTM.
“Parchment is better positioned than ever before to service the millions of learners looking to turn their credentials into opportunities and this is a direct result of the thousands of member institutions that make up the Parchment network,” said Matthew Pittinsky, Ph.D., Parchment Chief Executive Officer. “The 8,000+ organizations that work with Parchment to send, receive and innovate credentials are the heart and soul of our credential delivery service.”
